G&K Services, Inc. has announced their new line of coveralls, and knitted work shirts developed to help combat heat stress.

Their new vented flame resistant (FR) uniforms and FR knit garments feature enhanced visibility striping that will offer added protection in limited light conditions.

Heat stress is a very real concern for people whose jobs require flame resistant clothing,” said Dave Euson, G&K’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “G&K’s new, cooler FR uniforms will provide relief for people working in extreme heat conditions. We’re excited to add these products to our wide range of flame resistant solutions.”

The coveralls and work shirts are vented and made with a lightweight 4.5 ounce GlenGuard FR fabric. They also provide two flame resistant mesh vents on the back and under arms to improve air flow. The FR knit garments feature a moisture wicking fabric to allow for more breathability.

Every year, thousands of workers in the U.S. become ill from exposure to heat. Heat stress occurs as the body attempts to control its temperature and is typically brought on during physical labor in hot temperatures. G&K Services is hosting a free webinar to educate businesses and their employees on heat stress relief and FR clothing.

There are now several vented shirts on the market.  With good designs they can be just as safe for arc flash and flash fires.  The due diligence on designs assure that they work well.
