OSHA’s VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) designation recognizes employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems, and maintain injury and illness rates below national BLS averages.

An investigative report published 5/18/12 indicates that the VPP designation frees employers from regular health and safety inspections.  A report performed by the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, in collaboration with the Center for Public Integriy and Investigative News Network, questions the safety records of MA companies with that designation.
