New IEEE Paper: Arc Flash Pressure and Door Ejection Measurement

My recent paper has just been published in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. 

This paper addresses the hypothesis that arc flash pressure is mostly from temperature rise due to current flow rather than metal expansion so commonly opined. The experiments look at the IEEE 1584 style metal box and a door to hold in the pressure and measurements of the door ejection speed using a high speed camera with three different electrode materials with different metal vaporization levels.  The results are also compared to the published formula in other IEEE papers to identify the best current candidate for pressure prediction.

Our next paper to be published later this year looks at the force from an ejected door as this appears to be one of the greatest hazards in arc blast.
