Today NFPA announced that the balloting is finished on the Public Input Balloting Stage of NFPA 70E 2021. Now we are on to the comment stage. Everyone can put in public proposals and everyone can comment on the proposals that passed AND the proposals that failed.
If you feel very strongly about a proposal, you can request to have about 10 minutes at the next meeting, too. But submit your comment and especially any data to back up your desire. I find that the committee listens to data and solid logic with examples to back up the proposal or comment.
These proposals affect arc flash and electrical safety and even affect the CSA Z462 standard which is produced under an MOU with NFPA.
All input is considered. If you see an error in a proposal or believe a proposal which failed has merit, put in a comment.
Get involved in ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, ANSI, ISEA, CSA, IEC and other standards bodies that affect your safety. Volunteers make up all of these. Many pay their own way to make a difference.
