Arc Flash Hood Specification: ASTM F2178-17 Updated

The new standard ASTM F2178 affects arc flash hood specification.

It clarifies that the fabric, in fabric based hoods, can be the limiting factor in an arc rating.

While ArcWear’s arc flash hood testing has always assumed this, other labs have wondered. ┬áThis will keep hoods from being over-rated, a concern ArcWear has always addressed.

The other changes may not affect ratings but will clarify how to do the test and make the test and use of hoods, faceshields and balaclava/goggle units safer.
