Norfab Corporation of Norristown, Pennsylvania, is a manufacturer of FR fabrics used in the preparation one of the lightest weight, 40 cal NFPA 70E HRC Level 4 compliant electric arc protective suits currently on the market. These specially engineered, inherently flame resistant fabrics and systems offer the wearer lightweight comfort and superior performance and value in high exposure arc protective suits for the electric utility industry.

These systems are a combination of Norfab fabrics comprised of a lightweight outer fabric and a quilted liner insulation layer. The outer fabric is of the Norfab NFArc™ line of woven fabrics, a proprietary dimensionally stable blend of para-aramid, OPF, and phenolic fibers. The inner insulative layer is of the Norfab OMNI Quilt™ line, made with layers of a spun laced Basofil® blend nonwoven quilted to a woven Nomex® face cloth. The combined weight of the 40 cal protective system is an amazingly light 10.7 ounces per square yard. Only one other system close to this weight.
