Max Martinez, a PG&E employee of five years, died while working for PG&E in an underground vault in Benicia,CA.  Martinez is reported to have been electrocuted while doing work in an underground vault containing 12,000-volt power lines. He was reportedly upgrading a transformer in an underground vault. First responders stated Martinez could not be revived and died at the scene.

In an interview from KTVU.com, Katie Romans, a PG&E spokesperson says:

“Our underground vaults are basically an alternative to overhead lines so they deliver the same electricity and serve the same purpose that our overhead lines serve. They just do so underground.”
