Zarheer Jooma of e-Hazard has written an article for ByDesign Magazine (a publication of ASSE) on Testing Times of Arc-rated PPE. Jooma addresses arc-rated PPE through the explanation of an arc itself. He also looks into the DO’s and DON’T’s of PPE as well as the importance of an electrical safety program.

This article offers significant insight into the effects of an arc flash on the human body in the form of burns and other bodily damage. Jooma proposes the importance a user of PPE should place on awareness of international testing standards when using PPE. He gives detailed information into the relationship between test specifications and methods. Zarheer is a partner in in South Africa and does electrical safety training using NFPA 70E in South Africa and the Middle East.
