Demonstration of testing on foam in hardhats for side impact protection. Hardhats exposed to arc flash and some foams have be shown to ignite and melt. At the time of this video, no requirement for testing hard hats was in place.

ASTM F18 formed a taskforce to study this and develop a standard. Hugh Hoagland is chair of the taskforce and a trainer at e-Hazard.
